Mesa Boogie F-50 footswitch schematic

I'm repairing a Mesa Boogie F-50 footswitch, and made a schematic of it.

Here it is if anyone needs it.

Schematic of the Mesa F-50 foot pedal

The pedal has three switches: channel, contour and reverb.

The connector is a 5-pin female DIN, similar to MIDI connectors.

  1. Hi hi, quick query. Will a regular 5pin midi cable work?

    1. Yes, in case all 5 pins are wired. MIDI actually only uses 2 pins, so some MIDI cables might only have those connected.

  2. awesome, thank you.
next question, are the switches momentary or on/off type?

  3. Hey man, how can I mod it to have channel different colors? Green for clean and red for crunch. I have a double color LED with 3 legs, but I cannot figure out how connect it in Mesa F-50 footswitch. Can you help me? Thanks!

    1. You'd need some power for the LED in both cases. There is a voltage at PIN 4 when the channel light is supposed to be on. But you would need constant voltage to achieve this and then some additional circuitry. I'm not sure if pin 3 has a voltage or not. If it has, then you could do it...

  4. I also have the question: should the switches be momentary, or the on/off version?
